Ash got his start in barbering after seeing a need for men to have a space they could relax in; that wasn’t the pub. His attention quickly turned to creating a holistic approach to cutting hair. Having a background in mental health (in different capacities) meant he could understand the importance of not only helping clients look good but also feel good.       

        This unique approach combines the traditional skills of a barber with a compassionate and empathetic understanding of mental health issues. This in-turn creates a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to express their concerns and challenges, offering a listening ear and practical advice. Creating Ampersand Barber Co. gave Ash the opportunity to work with men from all walks of life, creating a personalised experience for each and every one of them. ​
